Trump fired NSA Director Tim Haugh after Loomer meeting: Report

President Donald Trump fired National Security Agency Director Gen. Tim Haugh after controversial right-wing activist Laura Loomer raised concerns that there were possibly treacherous “Biden holdovers” operating in the White House, according to multiple media reports.

Haugh, who was NSA chief and oversaw the U.S. Cyber Command, was released from his positions on Thursday alongside his civilian deputy at the NSA, Wendy Noble, per the Washington Post and other outlets. Noble was reportedly reallocated to another position at the Defense Department.

Loomer said she advocated during the Wednesday meeting that Haugh and Noble be fired. She celebrated the reported firings in a post to X, which further suggested her meeting with Trump in the Oval Office was responsible for the news.

“Thank you President Trump for being receptive to the vetting materials provided to you and thank you for firing these Biden holdovers,” she wrote early Friday morning. “NSA Director Tim Haugh and his deputy Wendy Noble have been disloyal to President Trump. That is why they have been fired.”

The Washington Examiner reached out to the NSA for comment but did not receive a response.

Loomer said she advocated the firings because she worried Haugh had been "handpicked" by former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, who has been accused by many Republicans of treason due to a controversial phone call he held with Chinese officials. She expressed concerns over Noble due to her connection with former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, whom Loomer had previously named as a "traitor."

Trump had already fired multiple officials on his National Security Council after hearing Loomer's concerns on Wednesday that the personnel were not loyal to his administration.

On Thursday evening, Trump downplayed reports that Loomer was responsible for pushing him to fire the NSC staffers.

"Laura Loomer is a very good patriot," Trump said. "She's a very strong person, and I saw her yesterday for a little while. She makes recommendations of names of people, and sometimes I listen to those recommendations, like I do with everybody. I listen to everybody, and then I make a decision."

When pressed on whether Loomer had "anything to do with the NSC aides who were ousted," the president replied, "No, not at all."

"Always we'll let go [of] people — people that we don't like or people that we don't think can do the job or people that may have loyalties to somebody else," he told reporters on Air Force One.

Loomer is an investigative journalist known for her frequent intraparty feuding, sparring with Trump allies such as Elon Musk, Make America Healthy Again advocate Jessica Reed Kraus, and Scott Presler, the man who helped deliver Pennsylvania for Trump in the 2024 election.
